Founded in 2021, the Ballroom Association of Denmark is a community-led movement to help the growth of the Danish Ballroom scene.

Support !
We wish to support the current ballroom scene that exists in Denmark. We do this by providing a safe space for minority groups, where their voices can be heard. Becoming a source of Ballroom knowledge and education. Bringing structure and financial aid to the ballroom community.
Promote !
We strive to provide visibility to our local ballroom scene by promoting events and classes that help to connect with the existing international scenes. We aspire to be an entry point for newer members and allies. We want to uplift existing and underrepresented voices, allowing the community to shine.
Amplify !
We want to amplify the ballroom culture in Denmark by keeping it connected to its roots while still allowing the local scene to grow organically. We aspire to nurture and boost existing and upcoming voices and talents.

Marie Peschardt

Chair of the board
Marie entered the ballroom community by accident in 2018, walking Sex Siren. Since then Marie has tried different categories, but is now focusing on walking Cister Realness. Marie has used ballroom as a safe space, and therefore has the ambition that B.A.D. will create safe spaces for others as well.

Thierry Antonio Mackie

Vice chair of the board
Thierry is a Queer fellow, originally from French Guyana in South America. He started off in Ballroom in 2018 with Vogue Femme and quickly found his footing in Bizarre, which landed him in the First European Major House of Ladurée from Paris and soon after in the Norwegian Kiki House of Meraki. Ballroom for him is about community and a safe space for all genders. He is in the association to educate himself, support ballroom and help people who might feel lost or curious.

Claire Bøje Loundens

Treasurer
Claire balances studying business at CBS and being an active member in the ballroom community. In 2015, she moved to New York to learn more about the ballroom history and culture. Now, she walks multiple categories and is a recognised face at the balls. Her goal for the association is to create awareness for new members while enriching our current community.

Beck Strohmer

Board member
Beck is an academic and long-time LGBTQ+ activist that believes in the ability of community to empower the individual. They were inspired to join ballroom, and then the B.A.D. board, because of ballroom's reputation as a safe queer space. Beck sees ballroom as a place for developing community while nurturing creative performance and, of course, carrying on an important legacy from our queer ancestors.

Michael Trahan

Board Member
Michael started walking balls in 2019 in the categories Fashion Killah and All American Runway. He believes that the association will create the opportunity to gather the resources needed to strengthen the Ballroom community in Denmark and make it accessible to those who need this community the most.

Danica Falkenberg

Alternate member of the board
For Danica, ballroom is a space where she can meet other queer people and participate in the culture. Ballroom has taught her a lot about herself and given her the courage to live as who she is openly. She want to give back to the scene and help build a bigger trans community within our community.

Guillaume Trahan

Alternate member of the board
Guillaume, known in the ballroom scene under is drag persona Solange, has been walking balls since 2019 in fashion categories such as Best Dressed, Designer’s Delight, Fashion Killah and Bizarre. He values the importance of creating a space where queer people can express themselves freely and be celebrated for their unique creativity and talent.

A free membership can be applied for. The board makes a decision on whether the membership is granted or rejected. The board determines the number of available free memberships per season. The application deadline for a free membership is 8 weeks before the start of the season.

Der kan søges om en økonomisk friplads. Bestyrelsen træffer en afgørelse om fripladsen gives eller afvises. Bestyrelsen fastsætter antal fripladser per sæson. Ansøgningsfrist for friplads er otte uger inden sæsonstart.

If a member does not live up to the Association's articles, they can be excluded. The board decides whether or not a member should be excluded. A minimum of three out of the five board members must agree on the exclusion. The member is excluded for the current season, and can thereby apply again for the next season. In the event of exclusion, the membership fee will not be refunded. This also applies to members of the board.
Hvis medlemmer ikke lever op til foreningens vedtægter, kan disse ekskludes. Bestyrelsen bestemmer om medlemmet skal ekskluderes. Minimum tre ud af fem bestyrelsesmedlemmer skal være enige om eksklusionen. Først ekskluderes medlemmet for igangværende sæson, og kan derved søge igen ved næste sæsonstart. Ved eksklusion refunderes kontingent ikke. Dette er også gældende for bestyrelsen.

All members of the association have the right to vote and all votes count for one vote. The right to vote is waived if the member or board member is not physically present.
Alle foreningens medlemmer har stemmeret og alle stemmer tæller for én stemme. Stemmeretten frafalder såfremt medlemmet eller bestyrelsesmedlemmet ikke er fysisk til stede.

We hold two general assemblies : one at the start of the season and one midway through the season. All members will be notified of the general assembly, which will be announced at least four weeks in advance.
Vi afholder to årlige generalforsamlinger. En ved sæsonstart og en midtvejs inde i sæsonen. Alle medlemmer vil blive indkaldt til generalforsamling, som vil blive varslet minimum fire uger før.

The agenda of the general assembly will be released at least two weeks before the next general assembly. If one has something to add, they must sent it to the chairperson no later than 48 hours before the next general assembly.
Generalforsamlingens dagsorden vil blive frigivet minimum to uger inden næstkommende generalforsamling. Såfremt man har noget at tilføje skal dette sende til forpersonen senest 48 timer inden næstkommende generalforsamling.

In order to change the articles of association, a general meeting must be convened, where the board must present the desired amendments to the articles of association, after which the members of the association vote on these. In order to be able to change or add articles of association, a minimum of 50% of the association members must be present.
For at ændre i vedtægterne skal der indkaldes til generalforsamling, hvor bestyrelsen skal fremlægge de ønskede vedtægtsændringer. Hvorefter foreningens medlemmer stemmer om disse. For at kunne ændre eller tilføje vedtægter, skal minimum 50% af foreningsmedlemmerne være til stede.

The board is voted during the season's first general assembly. The board consists of a chairperson, a vice chairperson, a treasurer, two regular members and two substitutes. The elected board is appointed until the next season's first general assembly.
Bestyrelsen stemmes ind ved sæsonens første generalforsamling. Bestyrelsen består af; en forperson, en næste-forperson, en kasserer, to medlemmer og to suppleanter. Den valgte bestyrelse er gældende indtil næste sæsons første generalforsamling.

The chairperson is authorized to sign for and on behalf of the association.
Forpersonen er tegningsberettiget i foreningen.

If the association wants to be dissolved by the association's members, the remaining funds will be donated to a charitable cause, which is determined during the dissolving general assembly.
Såfremt foreningen ønskes opløst af foreningens medlemmer. Vil evt. restmidler blive doneret til en velgørende sag, som bestemmes til den opløsende generalforsamling.
